Borgo Sorbatti: a family's history

From Giovanni Sorbatti to Federica and Cristina, guardians of a legacy

Borgo Sorbatti has its roots in the loving work of “grandfather” Giovanni Sorbatti who, around 1880, decided to build a home to honor of the marriage of his son Federico with Miss Maria Pia Anitori.

From their marriage were born Agar, Vera and Alma.

Over time, Borgo Sorbatti was looked after by the sisters and, later, by Alma and her daughters.

The fate of this family palace has been guarded by the Agar’s descendants, Federica and Cristina, who, even today, draw from her determination, her ardent commitment and her sagacious intelligence, a shining example to follow.
In fact, Agar Sorbatti, born in Loro Piceno in 1900, became the first female engineer in the Marche in 1923. She was a great woman who left her indelible mark on the Family’s history.

She was nicknamed Camà, a name that, in his honor, was attributed to the label of a great wine produced by Tenute Murola, the family wineyard, close to Borgo Sorbatti.
The story was intertwined with another key figure in the Family’s history when Agar’s daughter, Fede Bonati, married officer Antoni Mosiewicz, nicknamed Antek in the family (an exceptional Sangiovese by Tenute Murola is dedicated to him). His story is enormously influenced by the Second World War in which he actively took part in the liberation of Italy, which became his second homeland.

The Mr. and Mrs. Mosiewicz’s children – Jurek, Robert, Enrique, Ferdy and Rita, carried on the family traditions over the years.

Since 2025, Ferdy’s daughters, Federica and Cristina, have wanted to take over the management of Borgo Sorbatti, maintaining the style that has always distinguished the family.
